back from the holidays

Aside from being a lovely trip, it's also been an educational one:

-I have learned a new (non-dirty) definition of the word schtupp
-I learned the word smitchik
-Shellfish, not kosher. Got it.
-I spent Wednesday morning making rugelah with virginmartyr1's grandma, who will be sending me the recipe
-brining a turkey makes for kick-ass turkey. w00t!

It just means "to push, or shove." Makes perfect sense, eh? And I am surprised at how many of my friends didn't realize there was a clean definition of the word. I blame Mel Brooks.

Picture it: I'm rolling out rugelah dough and I hear virginmartyr1's grandma poking around in the pantry. "I schtupped it in here yesterday!" She must have assumed the startled look I gave her meant that I didn't know any Yiddish, because she quickly explained its meaning to me. Whew!
