This morning I was absolutely wide awake as soon as the alarm sounded. The realization that "today's election day" propelled me out of bed. I got ready for work quickly and bounded out the door to hit the polls. My usual scheme is to go to the polling station, located in the lobby of a local nursing home, before work. It's never crowded and I always get in and out in no time.

There was a line this morning. There was a line when I got there at 6:55 (polls open at 7) and a line for the entire half hour it took me to vote. And the line kept getting longer...

Roomie told me that the Wit's End is having an Election Day event; I think you bring your voter receipt and get a discount. I imagine Neal will have the news of election returns playing on the tv. God help me, I'm really tempted to go and watch. I couldn't sit home and watch the returns, but to sit in the company of like-minded individuals seems comforting. And I don't know that I can simply go to bed and wait until Wednesday morning. The results of this election seem of paramount importance, both for domestic policy and for foreign policy. How can I be blase? How can I work?

Okay. Need distraction.
