Girl Friday

Margo is the lead singer of the Cowboy Junkies. wafflelips has been a big fan of theirs for years; eventually I learned to appreciate and enjoy their music. However it wasn't until I saw them in concert that I learned to appreciate and enjoy Margo. Sure, she can be dreamy and whisper her vocals in a flowy-scarved manner. She does that a lot on their albums. But in concert she's less inhibited; it's as if she feeds on the energy. She might sing quietly and thoughtfully, but at live shows she isn't shy about opening up and letting out some serious raw passion. And no matter whether she's singing loud or soft, she has an intense energy about her. I like.

Today has been all right. Lab meeting this morning was an exercise in dullness.
The sole highlight was Brett's outfit. This fellow normally wears bright neon colored clothes, and usually mixes and matches his yellows, greens, and fuschias with wild abandon. Today he wore a conservative pair of slacks, blue dress shirt and tie. "Who are you and what did you do with Brett?" He brought tasty snacks, though. I had some sort of shortbread-y sconey type thing.

I have a tickle in my throat. Methinks I need spicy food. Hmmmmm, spicy Mexican food.
