Apr. 29th, 2005 03:24 pmRilo Kiley show was great. I have a better appreciation for their musicianship, particularly the lead guitarist. Jenny's vocals are heartfelt and her lyrics elevate the songs from pop to (borrowing one of
king_ghidorah's ideas) something that uses pop ideals in the construction of something else. I am so happy I went to the show.
The 88 opened up, and while I enjoyed their set they're a little bit more traditional pop than the headliners. Very bouncy, fun, melodic music with lots of random percussion, backup vocalese, etc. Also, the guy on keys was impressive. Not many people play like that anymore.
Two more hours until the weekend, then one additional hour's penance at Furry German's going-away party, then it's off to the chorus retreat. w00t!
