Oi! Locals!
Sep. 19th, 2005 02:02 pmConsider this your advance notice to mark calendars and check out a show. Martha Wainwright (the equally- albeit differently-talented kid sister of Rufus) will be at the Casbah on Thursday October 6. The ever-sarcastic Anya Marina opens the show. Tickets are a measly 10 bucks. 10 bucks! That's a pittance! You could spend 10 bucks on the latest bloated Hollywood action movie but wouldn't you rather spend it in support of a wry, literate, thoughtful young up-and-coming musician? Wouldn't you? You know you would, Ted just admit it.
So here's the scoop. Yes Martha is a chick with a guitar, yes she writes about relationships, but touchy feely she is not. She is a product of her surroundings, copping some style from her famous mom (Kate McGarrigle), some material from her famous dad (Loudon Wainwright), and some attitude from her famous big brother. She is a folk singer fag hag, and she has her own take on the world. Stand back, prick up your ears, and enjoy.

I will be at the show. If I do not see you there, I may be forced to jump up and down on your head like the gorilla from Donkey Kong. Don't push me, I ain't playin' yo.
