Jan. 4th, 2006 11:40 am1. ObNewYears: mine was rather nice, actually.
virginmartyr1 and I went to a small gathering at some friends' house. There was a little karaoke, some Dance Dance Revolution, and a wee bit of champagne. Then it was off to bed at 10pm so we could hit the road to Anaheim by 6:30 New Year's morning.
2. My heart goes out to the families of the coal miners who died in the collapse. No one in my immediate family works in the mines anymore, but I still felt a pang of panic when the accident was announced. May whatever power those families worship help them find peace.
3. Notre Dame = PWNED! Go Ohio State! :D
4. Even though I've lived in southern California for 5 years, I just can't root for a Pac 10 team in the Rose Bowl. It won't make me popular in the lab, but I'm gonna cheer for the Longhorns.
5. I have an interview coming up, either tomorrow or the 9th. The company does some similar things to what IVGN does, but is solely geared toward developing validated assays for clinical applications. I spoke with the PI yesterday, and every time he said "how do you feel about" or "have you ever" I could reply "Well, I'm already doing that" and gave an example. I met the PI about 2 years ago and he remembered me, so I think that's positive. Cross fingers that this is the one I've been waiting for.
6. There is no number six.
7. George Bush... don't you think he looks tired?
