May. 4th, 2006 03:51 pmThis occurred to me last night as I was trying to drift off to (what eventually was) restless sleep. I need more math in my life. So much of what I do is rote; the biotech industry is filled with skilled technicians at all levels of experience, no matter their degree or background. It's taken the place vacated by the automotive industry and other heavy industries. Instead of laboring away on a mechanical assembly line, biologists pipet away on the biotech equivalents. I'm not complaining mind you, just stating my observation.
And so I concluded that my life lacks proper theoretical exercise and the obvious solution is mathematics of the beefy brain-bendy sort, followed perhaps by a refresher course in quantum mechanics.
Of course, this could be the cold medicine again...
