Didn't watch Angel last night. I was far too sleepy, and after I read [livejournal.com profile] distraction77's review I was in no mood to stay up. Charisma Carpenter is purty, but she wasn't enough for me to sit through the episode. Ah well.

I listened to Rufus Wainwright's album Poses almost constantly the last two days. Then yesterday afternoon, I wanted to hear Joni Mitchell's Court and Spark. Don't ask me what the connection is between the albums, other than I own both. But oooh! Such good music! I remember hearing "Help Me" as a little girl (I was 5 or 6) and falling in love with the sound of the song. I still adore it; so lush. She used her voice more like a saxophone, shaping the tone like a jazzman. Gorgeous. Then I play "Car on a Hill" and I'm blown away by the power of her imagery, and the notes she chose to evoke the sense of anxious waiting. Good lord, that's some cool music.

I slept last night! Peacefully! Holy shit, my brain doesn't know what to do with itself. Granted, sometimes it likes to play around with sleep deprivation--the one surefire way I had to do Quantum Mechanics homework back in college was to stay up for 18 hours or so. All of a sudden, something clicked and I saw the answer. But I digress. Right now, my little brain feels like it's running twice or three times as fast as usual, only because it's probably working on twice or three times the rest it has been. Yay for sleep!
