The high school meme, gacked from [livejournal.com profile] wafflelips

The School and Year you graduated
Columbia High School, 1988

Nickname in high school
People called me all sorts of odd names. Yo, Mornin', Saraspunda, Parsnips were popular. My Gay Boyfriend called me Fergie (after Sarah Ferguson, another redheaded Sarah).

Sport you were into
I was a music geek. I only went to sporting events where I was playing in the band. I was also in the choir and drama club.

Had a circle of friends?
Up until they graduated, I hung with a group of kids who watched a lot of Young Ones and thought the teachers were a bunch of fascist bastards (they were). My last year or so, I had the Gay Boyfriend and one or two pals.

Best subject
Math. Sometimes Lit (when I did the homework).

Worst subject
I didn't care for chemistry.

A teacher you owe life lessons to
Mrs. Verbus, for not allowing any of us to simply get by in class. And Mr. Dodson for showing me what a tough but fair teacher was. He rocked.

Describe in one word...
Freshman (grade 9): depressed
Sophomore (grade 10): quirky
Junior (grade 11): blossoming
Senior (grade 12): active

Your best friend was
Geli. Best bud forever. Still is one of my closest pals.
Runners-up would be Jill (one of the cooler band geeks), Kris and Heather (the Bobbsy Twins) and of course, the Gay Boyfriend.

Worst friend
Pam. We could never conclusively decide if we liked or hated each other. But we couldn't simply avoid each other, either.

How was the prom?
Fine. Gay Boyfriend and I danced, had fun, and looked fabulous.

Who were the prom king and queen?
I don't think we had those.

Any achievements?
I got all sorts of dorky class awards: Most Musical, Most Likely to Suceed. The one that counted was the National Merit Scholarship. Because of that money, I got to go away to a 4-year university instead of going to community college like everyone else in my town.

Were you popular?
I was known. It was a very small school, though.

Song that reminds you of high school
Anything by Jody Watley, "Control" by Janet Jackson, "I Melt with You" by Modern English, "Institutionalized" by Suicidal Tendencies, the Repo Man soundtrack, the album Wonderful by the Circle Jerks, "Push It" by Salt-n-Pepa, "Your Love" by the Outfield.

Oh, yeah. Whenever I hear Institutionalized I remember high school/being a teenager.
