Hey, this whole not going into the Hellhole of strained tempers that I call Work thing is pretty nifty.
wafflelips and I did some chores around the house, talked to the landlady about future plans, and then went on a movie date. We saw a matinee of Van Helsing and loved it.
Okay, so they totally reinvented the character of Van Helsing as a sort of 19th century James Bond, even down to the secret headquarters, neato gadgets and adorable Friar Q, oops I mean Carl. But like a Bond flick, this was a great escapist film. The special effects were cool, the vampires were the creepiest I've seen in a long time -- not just gross-out scary, or sexy intimidating scary, or creepy monster sneaking up behind you scary, but all three combined. Oh yeah. Gimmesummadat. So Dracula had a bad case of Overactitis; so what, so did Gary Oldman. Hugh Jackman was cool, even if he does look girly with long hair. (Dude, please. I don't care how much stubble you have, you look girly with long hair. Cut it and we shall never speak of it again.)
Also, Kate Beckinsale in a corset wielding a sword being all My name is Anna Valerious, you killed my family, prepare to die. Oh yeah. Gimmesummadat.
In short, two stubby thumbs up.
After considerable debate, we are also acquiring a roommate. We haven't lived with anyone else since '97 so we had our qualms. But the pros outweigh the cons, we're all mature and respectful, and our pal needs a place to live. So there we go. If you happen to call and a strange woman answers, please don't get the wrong idea. It's perfectly innocent. ;)
