I can totally understand where you're coming from. I always get stuck in meetings that make absolutely no sense to me. I'm technical, they're business. It's not a good mix! We should have interpreters or something.
As for your family calling you out of the blue... I think it's funny if he wants something. I had an old high school friend email me a little while ago not because she was returning my emails or wanting to chat--because she WANTED something. The email was sent to me about a month ago--at least 6 months since we moved and she says, "I heard you two moved a while ago..." Yeah. The first paragraph was basically a "I'm fine, how are you?" and the rest of the email was asking if Angele could help her out with pitching a radio show idea to some radio stations. I replied and said that Angele works in television, not radio. *grumble* Although Angele does have some contacts in the radio industry, I wasn't about to help her out. You don't talk to people because you need something. You can't expect people to help you when you don't give a rat's ass about them the rest of the time. People suck! ;)
