Brief emergency meeting with Frenchie this afternoon in which she told us she's being promoted. (Yay!) To a position that won't allow her to supervise us anymore. (Boo!) As of Wednesday, we'll once again be reporting to Furry German. (Stunned silence.)

Dude, who the fuck did I piss off? Cosmically, I mean.

that's full of suck dude. maybe it's the universe testing your newfound positive attitude at work? *hugs*

Maybe. Or maybe it means it's time for me to get out of there.

well yes right, that too. that one is very true and has been very true for awhile. maybe this is just confirming. i'm just saying in the immediate response department, it's all about testing the positive attitude.

Yeah okay. Stress-testing the positive attitude, I see.

"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."

It's fitting, but oddly enough not comforting.

*considers*

I don't think I meant it to be comforting. At the most, I thought it might give you a smile, which is about all I hope for with most people, on most days. I've spent so long not knowing the right words that I don't even bother looking any more.

I'll be happy to tell you a joke, though. Or to say "I'm sorry" (different than "I aologize") if that's what the occasion seems to warrant.

No, I meant that I'm one of those strange people who isn't comforted by the notion of an unfair and random universe. Neither am I comforted by the notion of a fair and rational universe. I'm just odd that way.

So tell me a joke. ;)

so what you're saying is that it's pretty hard to comfort you. gotcha.

At least, not by trying to make some scheme or plan of the universe.
