Date: 2005-01-13 10:04 pm (UTC)I'll have my MS by then and enough experience to have my own counseling practice. I'd still like to be in San Diego, as it is my favorite spot in CA and I don't see us leaving here anytime soon. :-)

Date: 2005-01-14 12:12 am (UTC)I sang in the elementary school glee club (isn't that a wonderful name for a singing group), but just because it was there. It was my elementary school music teacher who really got me interested in music in general. She's the one who encouraged me to start teaching guitar and piano lessons when I was in 8th grade.
In junior high, I hated the chorus teacher, so I stopped singing at school and started singing at church in the folk group, where I got to play guitar and develop that skill. The organist/choir director helped me to sing a little more on key (thank goodness!) and had me do some conducting, too.
When I got into high school I joined the freshman chorus and had the most wonderful music teacher for the next four years. I joined every music group at the school that I was eligible for - Choralaires (girls only), Glee Club (the big group), Chamber Choir, Swing Choir, Madrigals, show chorus for musicals. Starting my junior year, I took voice lessons from Mr. C and got serious about singing.
I decided I was going to study music in college. I ended up as a voice major only because I didn't want to go for music ed (Connecticut was cutting jobs in the arts like crazy, and many of the music classes at the elementary school level were becoming a half hour of babysitting). After a year a UCONN in a program that was too challenging vocally, I transferred to a small liberal arts school where I got to design my own music major and decided that while I love to sing, I couldn't do it for a living.
probably more than you wanted to know...

Date: 2005-01-14 04:24 am (UTC)Another quality that is a biggy for me is that I want her to have the ability to find joy in little things. I love the feeling of seeing the world or something about it with a childlike sense of wonder and being able to share that with someone.
I also value intelligence and compassion a lot. Specifically a few people have awed me by their knowledge of human suffering relating to politics and world events - things I wish I understood about the world and don't.
I've dated someone who didn't share my beliefs, and that was fine as she was respectful of them, but it was really cool for me when I got to date someone I could share that with.
I'm attracted to women of varius physical types but have a particular weakness for short, curvy types.
This kind of reminds me of a time when I was at the gay group in London and we made a list of traits an ideal partner would have. Mine started out with stuff about intelligence and common interests and the like, and everyone thought it was hilarious when it ended with two that were physical, concluding with "big breasts." *shrugs*

Date: 2005-01-14 02:23 pm (UTC)Also, Sunday mornings are nice but nothing can compare to Saturday afternoons; getting up, having a run, taking a shower-- or conversely having some coffee and watching a little tv -- then going back to bed. Best. Thing. Ever.
