...by the Wicked Witch of the West. sigh
As you may have guessed, the trip to LA was fantastic! We hit the road early Saturday morning and were in LA by 10:30. C took me to a couple of shops she likes including my new Mecca and Shrine of Utter Devotedness, Amoeba music. I could go into serious debt at that store.
Let's get to the good stuff, namely the matinee show of Wicked. It was staged well, adapted smartly from the novel, and was a delight from start to finish. The role of Elphaba is really a powerhouse, and the actress acquitted herself well. She was a mezzo with a nice full low range and her voice contrasted sweetly with the clear soprano of Glinda. Not only that, but the two actresses blended very well on their duets, until their unison passages truly sounded like one voice. Check when it's coming to your town and go see it. That's an order, pal!
