It was better than I thought; funnier than it has been in a while, which is a godsend. DB and JM have a nice antagonistic chemistry. Spikes scenes with Fred were surprisingly moving. The two characters could balance each other nicely, if written properly.
One thing that's been stuck in my mind is Spike and Angel alone in W&H, and this quote from Tropic of Cancer: We are all alone here and we are dead. It's not a bunny, more of a set of whiskers floating in space, but it's persistent.
