quesarah: java baby (coffee)
This weekend did not go as planned.

It was meant to be a weekend of immersion in baby cuteness -- Friday after work having dinner with S and her 2 year old girl, then on Saturday playing lazertag with F&J's two boys -- followed up with good old fashioned couple time.

Friday was good, although I was shocked to see that Kaylee is HUGE and talking and a small person now! Saturday on the other hand ....

...well, I spent the whole day dozing on the couch. I would occasionally get up to switch the laundry over, or flip unenthusiastically through the tv channels, but mostly I slept. And ate soup. And toast. And then slept. No lazertag. No cute little ones. No social activities at all. Just sleep.

Sunday, I had planned to make cooked apples and biscuits for breakfast. (I was surprised to find Jonagolds in my local market this week; I assumed I'd have to wait until autumn to see them in stores. But there they were, and I took it as a Sign.) I woke up feeling loads better Sunday morning, so I jumped right into cooking breakfast. I sliced up the apples and put them in a pan with a little butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Then I got out the flour to start the biscuits....

...and found little buggy guys. Naturally, if there are little buggy guys in the flour, there are little buggy guys everywhere. The next hour and a half was spent inspecting the pantry, throwing out roughly half of the stuff, and orchestrating an insect mass murder the likes of which have only been described in horrified whispers.

So we got bagels for breakfast. And then showered and got ready for chorus events.

So much for plan A.
