the san diego metropolitan area is dealing with 3 or 4 major forest fires. dry conditions coupled with high winds have made close to 80,000 acres go up like kindling. we're 30-50 miles away and the sky is brown with haze, ash coming down. it's nuts. the santa ana winds are driving it south and west with no change in direction or intensity in sight.

this shit is scary.

Yeah, I remember growing up (in Camarillo), coming home from school to see the mountainside on fire from my backyard. The neighbors would stand on their roofs with garden hoses in case embers floated down onto their property. It happened every couple of years, but it was always unreal and quite freaky.

Scarey part is that fires just left Vancouver only to be followed by heavy flooding. Mother Nature isn't being very nice of late.
