well, there are already several working spacecraft that use ion engines (the technology used for powering TIE-fighters in star wars, and similar to impulse power in star trek) - so this is the next logical step. i seem to recall reading about some scientests finding a form of lithium that had qualities similar to those ascribed to dilithium - maybe this is what is needed to make it work??
well, seeing as hes already been selling tickets for the virgin galactic flights, even though the first ship hasnt entered construction yet, and the pre-prototype has only ever made 3 extra-atmospheric, sub-orbital flights - probably next week ;)
