The dream began in a bustling urban neighborhood. I had the sense of having had the dream before, or at least of having been in that location. There were lots of brick and brownstone buildings all around, pubs, restaurants and shops at street level spilling out customers onto the sidewalks. I was following a couple -- one male, one female. I didn't see their faces but I think she was older, petite in stature with white hair. I wasn't supposed to let them see me, so I dodged and hid behind strangers as we three moved along the streets.

They took a turn and we were in more of a warehouse district. We walked into a huge warehouse -- the kind with the rolling metal doors along all sides. All the doors were open and people moved in and out, walking past fishmongers, produce stands, all sorts of vendors. I was surprised that it was so open because it was winter and I could see a thick layer of snow laying on the windows.

The couple took another turn, this time into a quiet alley. I hung back so they wouldn't notice me, and let them take a good lead in front of me. A man crossed in front of me and obscured my view. When he moved, the couple was gone from sight. I walked quickly to the last place I'd seen them. On my left was an Irish-style pub. I could see that there were only a couple of fellows sitting at the bar. I walked a few paces farther and on my right was a beat-up scarred old wooden door. Stains all over it, from god only knows what. At the top used to be a name, painted crudely by hand but long since faded. It read "The Gill Club." I knew the couple had gone inside. The dream ended.

****

In the realm of the funny, when I related this dream to my friend Ginger she told me to google "the gill club." Apparently, it is/was a jazz club in Paris. Tres wacky, no?

Tomorrow I expect I'll be able to report back the secret code to get in the door. ;)
