I've lived in San Diego roughly 6 years now, run trails, gone for hikes. Before that, I lived in Phoenix where I hiked, walked trails, et cetera. I had never seen a rattlesnake in the wild, though.

I can now amend that statement. [livejournal.com profile] virginmartyr1 and I went for a walk at dusk at Mission Trails Park and saw three good-sized rattlesnakes doing their early evening heat soak.

I think next time we'll go for a walk just a little bit earlier.

How was everyone's weekend? Anything exciting happen?

When we vacationed out west years ago, we saw a sidewinder crossing the road. Very cool.

Yup. Just not so cool to have almost stepped on it. ;)

You realize that in the same circumstances, I would have been giddy like a schoolboy for days.

I went to Reed Point, MT (pop. 185) to see the Running Of The Sheep. I won a teacup by flicking a dime into it. Girlfriend won a gravy-boat the same way. There were no snakes in sight. Only sheep.

SNAKE! (to quote Za) We had a big black snake cross our path here once, but thankfully no rattlesnakes! Our rattlers here are the smaller variety, though.

I'd just as soon keep my distance from all snakes, regardless of their size. O.O

Actually, I checked the ESPN2 site and I think it's Eastern time. They will rebroadcast the finals in two hour segments.
