It's overwhelming, isn't it? The constant barrage of videos or game updates, or what have you. The latest thing fb have been doing is showing conversations in my newsfeed between mutual friends. It's like eavesdropping, or being at the most tedious party ever. It's been getting on my nerves for a while.
(seeing a conversation that suggests my ex has started dating was the last straw. i don't need or want to see that & aside from unfriending her and all of the people close to her, there's no way to filter it. it's bollocks, really.)
Yes. Absolute information overload. And so rarely is it anything even remotely interesting or useful. It's just... noise, that fills up hours of your day.
I don't have that many people on my f-list, yet every time I log in there are 300+ items.
And I feel bad, because a few people do post interesting things on there. But... too much. I don't like it.
And yeah, it is the ultimate stalking tool isn't it. Always telling you what your friends are up to, and with whom.
Yeah, links to some you tube video or invitations to things I'm not interested in. Occasionally interesting articles but most of the time I've already read them.
Lots and lots of vapidity. Cell phone pics with no context. Noise.
And I particularly hate when I comment to something, and then get emailed everybody elses comments after mine. Which are invariable no more than two words, or a smattering of text speak.
I logged on to wish my nephew happy birthday, and it's all just rubbish. Nothing at all worth reading, a bunch of advertisements from the shows & bands & whatnot that've got active accounts now. It's like MySpace now, only I can filter down what I do and don't want to read. Ugh.
Yes, myspace is a good comparison. Here's hoping people start to get bored of Facebook soon, I log in every now and then because there are a few people I used to talk to a lot on LJ who only post on FB now. Though interacting with them there is a pain.
