I was instructed by the Sick One that I really should have bought an Xbox for her Christmas present, and why didn't I run out and fix that? So I did. Insane. One store was completely filled with stupid shoppers and had run out of the Xbox hardware, so I drove to another part of town. They had the hardware which I purchased with all due haste. I was also hit on by the cashier, who seemed terribly pleased that "a girl" was buying an Xbox for herself. I left the store before he could propose.

Now I realize that I never should have bought it. The damned thing is far too addictive. Holy mackerel!

More games? Yikes! Probably a good thing while she's sick, but what about those wrist/arm/neck problems? But can I come play it? Nope. That wasn't me. Just the secret computer game addict...

It actually is a bit easier to play this than to play on the computer. :-)

And you are welcome to come over play any time you want. We will need to share it.

Suprisingly, I'm not as addicted as I thought I'd be. I enjoy it, but don't forsee a future of 12 hour days in front of it.

We only have two games. Perhaps it should stay that way. I've a feeling we could both get sucked into a good game.

No, it shouldn't stay that way. We need to get more games! One that includes lots of satisfying violence and one that has lots of strategy.

(And one where we don't have to drive that damned star wars land thingie and the stupid jets they have.)

Hmmm... less addictive and easier to use. sounds suspiciously too good to be true! are you feeling any better?

From: [identity profile] wafflelips.livejournal.com
Kind of. Not really. I called off work today. I either go in w/o medicine and am non-functional because of all the sneezing and stuff, or I go in, take medicine, can't drive anywhere, and am nonfunctional and fuzzy. Home is best for now. :-)

She's still sick. I'm on the last half of a scrip of antibiotics (the stories my sinuses could tell). We rented some games from Hollywood Video last night. Very cool. You'll have to come over to play. :)

Oh, I have an XBox. Which, isn't really very relevant to anything at all, other than to say how much I love it to bits.

But then, you probably know this already.

What games did you get with it?

And yes, I too worship gamer-grrrls. I wish there were more of you in the world.

Marry me? :)

It is awfully fun. I noticed that straightaway. We've been playing Tetris Worlds and Star Wars: the Clone Wars which came with the machine. I foresee a trip to Hollywood Video to rent some other games. Nice shooty fighty games. They're fun.

Marry me? :)

Love to, but my wife would kill me. Hee. How I wished I could have said it to the cashier. *snicker*

It is fun. There is a trip to Hollywood Video in our near future. And depending on how crappy I feel (or if I ever come down from the Nyquil) the trip will be in your near future.

I wouldn't kill you, I'd just be really, really confused. "Huh? Did you say you were leaving me for a man?"

1. Understood ma'am. *salutes*

2. It would be pretty confusing, eh?

And, dammit, the good ones are always taken! :)

Are you actually married?

Yes, as much as the State of California allows. Which is actually a lot, provided Schwarzenegger's conservative backers don't pressure him to revoke the previous governor's legislation.

Oh, they'd better leave that shit alone. Grr. Arrgh.

Conservative voting groups are already gathering signatures for a vote to repeal AB 205. I shit you not. Those fuckers betters keep their filthy hands off my marriage.

Don't they have anything better to do with their time? Fucking assholes.

Apparently they don't have anything better to do. They're spouting the same old "it's perverting the sacred institution of marriage" crap.

According to the Update, a recent poll of Californians say that support equal partner rights for same-sex couples as long as it isn't called "marriage." On one hand, that's shitty. On another, it seems like we can use that to our advantage to block this drive.

It was something silly, like 72%. The recent Update has the article.

whee for the new XBox....you crazy kids running out to get one...but fun new toys, are, well, fun! i usually suck pretty badly at video games, but i might need to come try out the tetris world sometime in the quite near future (yay tetris!!) :)

Please do. The more people we have participating in Xbox wackiness, the less dorky we feel about it.

How was Phoenix? Did you kiss the ground in San Diego when you returned?

How was Phoenix?

see my journal...and then in awhile i'll have more details about the trip. but it was ok. could have been better, but, truthfully, could have been worse.

Did you kiss the ground in San Diego when you returned?

dear good god yes! yay to being back in san diego. we missed the kitties, we missed the warm weather (yes it was FREEZING in phoenix), we missed our liberally minded friends and more-liberally-minded-than-phoenix california, and we missed our bed. but lemme tell you, the frommer's guide makes phoenix sound so fun and interesting and exciting. i think i will get one for san diego so i know all the fun cool exciting interesting places to go. hee.

Congratulations on being the proud parents of a new X-Box. My brother also got an X-Box with those same games. I bought him some used games from my parents as well. You should really look into getting used games at Blockbuster or where ever else you shop. We now have a ton of games for our Playstation2 thanks to used games being cheaper. :)

I got Tony Hawk's Underground for Christmas. I'm a happy girl. I like the skateboarding games. They're very, very cool. Our other games include The Sims, SoCom II (really cool war game that Angele plays cuz I'm too much of a wimp--you can even use a headset to speak to your men), Simpson's Road Rage, Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto Vice City (these games rock because you can steal cars and run over people), Harry Potter (very fun game), Monkey's Island (cool role playing game with strategy and humour involved), Rayman's Arena (not that wonderful, really), You Don't Know Jack (fun game about trivia), and many more.

Games are cool. I only go through addiction phases though. Like right now I would like to be playing my new Tony Hawk game because I haven't really had a chance to play it yet. I did play it before Christmas Eve because Angele's bad 17 year old sister opened up my gift, put it in the PS2, forced me to try it and then wrapped it back up. It was a gift from Angele's parents... Heh.

My girl informed me that she doesn't like driving games, they're too hard. She likes action games (that don't involve flying stupid aircraft like the Star Wars game) and role-playing games. So I rented Halo for good shoot'em up fun and Myst III for role-playing goodness.

Sims is on the list to rent, as is Monkey Island. I remember you talking about that one. You guys have the new Buffy game, right? Is it good ?

Grand Theft Auto is not all driving. You can get out and beat people up. If you do the missions then you have to do stuff with driving/shooting/planting car bombs... I don't usually do the missions. I like to drive around in other people's cars mostly. :)

Monkey Island is super cool. You really have to think in that game and it's pretty funny. We have Myst III on the computer but I haven't played it yet. The Sims is cool because it's different from the computer version--you can do the "mission" mode where you actually have goals you have to achieve.

The best thing to do is to rent games and see which ones you really like. :)

I recommend both Harry Potter games that are out. The first one is easier but really fun. The second one is a lot harder. It's fighting, button pressing, broom flying... Just cool. :)

We don't own the Buffy game but we're not really into it either. It's pretty violent and I really don't enjoy the creepy fighting games. It's cool though. I think the first one (only made for X-Box) has more real actor voices in it--except for SMG. The second one doesn't have Alison Hannigan or SMG's voices but it's still pretty cool if you like that sort of game.

Do they have Sims for Xbox?

Grand Theft Auto is pretty lame on the PC. I saw the box for it at the store not that long ago. It's much better on PS2 & X-Box. Better view and graphics. You can always try ours when you visit. :)

And, yes, there are Sims on X-Box, like Sarah says below...

Then you'll like the Buffy game. It's all about killing vamps. The graphics are good and it's pretty cool when you stick a stake in a vamp. I like watching people play those games but I suck at them myself and they creep me out.
