I have this friend back in Ohio. We've known each other for ~25 years, and for part of that time we were nearly inseperable. We goofed around, wrote, sang, and generally were giddy girls. (Very giddy sometimes, much to our parents' chagrin.) In school, we wrote back and forth constantly, sharing even the most minute details of our lives. There may have been hundreds of miles between us, but you couldn't tell from the amount of information we always knew about the other. Inevitably, there came a time when she was back in Ohio while I was in Arizona and we didn't talk as much. We still wrote and kept in touch, but it wasn't the same as it had been. It saddened me, but I realized that we all grow up and change. She and I drifted apart. These things happen.

Around a year ago, (maybe a little more) we visited while I was in town. Lo and behold, once again we had plenty of things in common. We laughed, we talked, we had a good time. Now she's got consistent email access and we're writing back and forth every week again, talking about even the most minute details of our lives. And the most amazing thing is that we have all sorts of brand-new things in common: music, books, activities, philosophy. Somehow in those years we were each changing, we changed in many of the same ways. We took different paths, but we ended up in pretty similar places.

That's so neat.

Oi Sid! Here's to you, pissface! :D

Yeah, with the concealed weapons law and most conservative "marriage protection" laws on the docket.

Sure it is. :)

Actually Cleveland Hts. just had a referendum where anyone who isn't married can come get a document stating that they are a "couple"!
A couple of what doesn't matter. This was supposed to be the first in the nation. It has absolutely no legal grounds it means nothing other than the city of cleveland Hts. recognizes something. So if you want you too can have a document. Does that make you want to smile or cry?

A document? Gee, is that like the consolation prize? I don't think so, we have a signed document from the Sec of State here in Californa saying that not only are we a couple, but we have right, privileges, and responsibilities to each other.

But yay for Cleveland Hts. (I guess)
