Not too surprised
Jan. 30th, 2004 01:00 pmAnyone who remembers the potential job in Maryland? Here's an update. First of all, the guys who approached me made a bunch of promises they couldn't possibly keep. All sorts of things about promotion, raise, etc were mentioned to get my interest. However, they neglected to take into consideration the fact that upper management would have something to say about their practices. The term "cherry-picking" was used repeatedly. I was told they'd get back to me, and waited and waited...
Today a mass email went out announcing the opening of several research positions in our Maryland facility. The title they offered me wasn't listed. So, they got the smack down for not having open recruitment for the position, and they were denied the ability to offer the position I was interested.
Looks like no Maryland move for us.

No cold weather for us! Wheeeeeeeeeeee!! It's beaches, palm trees, tofu, and freaky californians for us. It suits us fine. :-)

Date: 2004-01-30 06:31 pm (UTC)That was your plan all along, right? You can drive down the Gardiner with your window down and look at the lovely Lake Ontario (I wouldn't recommend swimming in it though).
At least the beaches here don't have deadly things in the sand and the water. Well, not things that are alive, anyway.
