I will be traveling on March 2nd, the day of California's primary election. I forgot that fact until yesterday, at which point it was too late to register for an absentee ballot. I am a sad nonvoting crackmonkey.

To [livejournal.com profile] king_ghidorah, [livejournal.com profile] gonzo21 and [livejournal.com profile] woe2you: boys, the ongoing discussion of comic horror movies astounds me. It frightens me a little, too. I've seen the Evil Dead series and Ginger Snaps; that's pretty much it. Y'all have a depth of knowledge of the genre that's just creepy. They seemed like such nice fellows... except for that Chris; he was a right bastard.

[livejournal.com profile] wafflelips has taken to referring to [livejournal.com profile] woe2you as "mister woe2you." As in, "Did you see what that mister woe2you posted today? What kind of crack is he smoking?" It amuses me, and I expect it will amuse him too. There, now I'm the Entertainment.

Boy, that does sound dodgy, doesn't it?

[identity profile] wafflelips.livejournal.com 2004-02-26 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'll vote next week. If I wouldn't get arrested, I'd vote in your place, too.

Entertainment! yay!

And have the three geek boys friended each other yet? Interesting to note that the guys never friend first, or am I just a crack-smoking monkey in thinking that they don't do that?

[identity profile] woe2you.livejournal.com 2004-02-26 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
I knew [livejournal.com profile] gonzo21 previously - from Satori, I think.

Socio-illogically, I tend to friend those who friend me. My outgoing nature, y'know.

[identity profile] wafflelips.livejournal.com 2004-02-26 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
So I'm not a crack-smoking monkey! Sheesh, I was worried for a second there...

[identity profile] woe2you.livejournal.com 2004-02-26 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
Shaky logic. You could be a crack-smoking monkey who's also right.

[identity profile] wafflelips.livejournal.com 2004-02-26 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
That's true. I could also be brain dead and *not* a crack-smoking monkey. Or I could be a crack-smoking panda bear. Or a crack-smoking dolphin. Or I could be someone who needs to actually do my work. Nah, it can't be the last one.

[identity profile] woe2you.livejournal.com 2004-02-26 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Close examination of your recent To Do list would suggest otherwise, yes.

I propose a deal: no further speculation on the crack, and I'll recommend or warn you off it once testing is complete, and on receipt of your species credentials.

[identity profile] wafflelips.livejournal.com 2004-02-26 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
No crack??!? But how will I ever get through my day? Actually, the notion of me and my nervous system on crack is a scary, scary thought.

Um, I seem to have misplaced my species credentials.

A word from the newly Misterised right bastard

You'll be pleased to know that after lengthy negotiations, the title of the aforementioned position is now "Senior Vice President, Distractional Activities Division". Further details will follow the signing of the contract, which is slated for Monday.

Creepy? Creepy? Hmph.

Further details of the crack under consumption will follow exhaustive testing.

I'll have my attorney accompany me on Monday when the contracts are ready for signing.

Creepy? Creepy? Hmph.

Why yes; creepy.

Further details of the crack under consumption will follow exhaustive testing.

I'll need a notarised report, filed in triplicate.

I protest "creepy".

Disturbing?

The general idea, not the semantics.

Lo siento. My intention was only to cajole.

[identity profile] woe2you.livejournal.com 2004-02-28 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
Come to think of it, I can probably turn this whole thing into some sort of title - "Mr. The Right Bastard [livejournal.com profile] woe2you, Creepy Geek Extraordinaire". Or something.

Re: A word from the newly Misterised right bastard

[identity profile] biogeekgrrl.livejournal.com 2004-02-28 10:38 am (UTC)(link)
I think "the Honorable" needs to be worked in there; something like "The Right Honorable Bastard Mr. [livejournal.com profile] woe2you , CGE."

"The Right Dishonourable"?

Don't you have anything better to do on a Saturday than reply to my inane babbling? Shame on you.

The Girl's at yoga, as is the pal I'm supposed to run about with this afternoon. I just got off the phone with my Dad; he's in hospital still, cardiac care unit. I am employing your services as Senior Vice President, Distractional Activities Division.

I'm just using you, how horrid of me!

I feel so dirty and used...

[identity profile] woe2you.livejournal.com 2004-02-28 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
You should be ashamed of yourself. Ok, so I lie. I actually changed the subject line because my inbox was getting all samey and boring.

From which you may draw your own conclusions as to my similar need for distractional activities.

S'not fair. Nobody refers to me as a cool alternative name like 'Mr Field' or anything. All I'm stuck with is my stupid livejournal name which I wish I'd put a little more thought into, rather than losing my temper after the umpteenth suggestion had been vetoed by the livejournal registration programme.

I'm so upset, I seem to have become anonymous. Good lord.

[identity profile] biogeekgrrl.livejournal.com 2004-02-26 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
Will it make you feel better to know that I constantly win the battle to not burst into the theme song from "Simon in the Land of the Chalk Drawings" every time I interact with you?

[identity profile] wafflelips.livejournal.com 2004-02-26 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I refer to you as Simon. I know his name is Chris, but I know lots of people named Chris, and it's confusing as hell. Also, if I say woe2you in the middle of conversation, it comes out more like Whatayou.

I guess my much-dimmed love of bad films is a bit creepy. My 20s were a period where my insomnia and my love of bad movies combined into a deep exploration of that high art, the Bad Horror Film. True dreck is the rule in Bad Horror Films, but a handful of films and directors do stand out. And it surprises me how many have gone on to bigger and better things. Some never realized their early potential but still became successful (Carpenter, Hooper, Craven, Romero). Others had success-- both artistically and career-wise that was much greater than I ever thought (Cronenberg, Raimi, Jackson). And others are beloved by horror fans, but remain as obscure as they should be (notably Don Coscarelli.) I never was a big lover of the italian horror guys (Fulci, Argento, etc.), but the fact that they are fairly well-known now also surprises me. I still have a soft spot for the Bad Horror Film, though, but I seldom indulge the habit anymore.

They seemed like such nice fellows... except for that Chris; he was a right bastard.

That nice guy thing. Again, I'm trying to work on the brooding asshole thing, cuz its a chick magnet. How many times to I need to remind you?

[identity profile] biogeekgrrl.livejournal.com 2004-02-26 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Chris = right bastard. Doug = brooding asshole. Got it.

Simon, is there any nasty name you'd rather be called by?
