What day is it?
Mar. 3rd, 2004 01:00 pm1. Just got back from a whirlwind business trip to Virginia. I took the red-eye on Sunday, got to the conference at 10AM, listened to presentations all day, and then talked to strangers from 7-9:30pm at the poster session. Afterwards, our contingent wandered to where there was rumored to be free beer. Lo and behold, a separate room set up by an English company eager to make business contacts (and sales) in the US. With an open bar. Yay English guys! I made it to bed at 11pm and was comatose. When I woke up, I was in exactly the same position as when I went to bed and the alarm had been going off for an hour.
One more cross-country trip and I was home safely in San Diego. Sleeping in my own bed was nice; actually sleeping itself was nice, and I feel somewhat rested. I'm still not sure what day it is, though.
2. I finished reading Auntie Mame last week. First thought, it's much sharper and less sentimental than the movie. Whee! Still terribly clever. Second thought, my inner gay man is dying to burst out and cause a scene. All those descriptions of fabulous clothes, images of Rosalind Russell, and frightfully witty dialog have gone
3. Am reading All The Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy. Interesting. More when I finish.
Okay, one thing. Matt Damon played John Grady Cole? Matt Freakin' Damon?!? Oh please. Blah. At least it wasn't Tom Freakin' Cruise.
