breathe_poetry. The co-mods post poetry, usually organized by a weekly theme. Commentary is encouraged, although everyone seems to be a bit shy so far.
It reminds me of my friend Stu. When we were in grad school, Stu became particularly annoyed with the spam and (humorless) jokes forwarded by other students. Stu is the most spectacularly vindictive individual I've ever known, and he patiently collected every email address that sent him jokes, only to send them weekly "Pome Notices" from his mammoth collection. (And yes, the misspelling was intentional.) The number of people who railed at the sight of one lowly poem their inbox but thought nothing of a dozen or more forwarded jokes astounded him and me.
There were some folks who liked getting Pome Notices, and he continued it for quite a while. Many such delightful pursuits end in time, but I like of
breathe_poetry as a cousin of the Pome Notices. They make me think fondly of Stu. Dear Stu; warped, wicked, manipulative, coldly calculating, vengeful Stu. What a great guy.
Not a good person to piss off, but he threw a great barbecue.
