Right click each picture and select "save image as." Give it a name and save it to your computer. You might save it to "my photos" or the desktop, whichever is easier for you to find.
To upload then, go to your live journal login page. Select "Manage" on the top bar, then slide down to select "User pictures." At the bottom of a page is an area that says "Upload a new picture."
The top bar says "from file." There's a button next to it that says "Browse." Click that, and go to the location you saved your images (my photos, or desktop in my example). Click on the picture, then click on "open." You should now be at the live journal page, and the file information specifying the image should be filled in the form. You can unclick the tab that says "make this your default picture" if you like. Then click "proceed."
You should then arrive at your user pics page. Give the image a name or keyword to identify it, then click the "Save settings" button at the bottom of the page. Now when you update your journal, you find the link that says "For more options, click here." Clicking that link will open up some more options. Find the one that says "Picture to use:" and use the pull-down menu to select whichever user pic you'd like to associate with the post.
