LONDON - Alex Kingston (news) says she's being axed from "ER" for being too old.

The British actress, who plays Dr. Elizabeth Corday on the long-running medical drama, said she was recently told that after seven years on the show, her contract would not be renewed.

I still honestly don't understand why tv executives don't find more mature women sexy. Dr Corday was by all reasonable standards, very attractive. I kinda half suspect that tv execs must all have things for young teenaged girls, and want to cast as many as they can so that they can make the best use out of their casting couches. And older, more secure women, scare the shit out of them.

I don't understand this, the "logic" of what television viewers want to see versus what so many people say they like to see.

I think they must be relying on focus groups, that they believe to be representative, but are actually heavily skewed towards, well, towards the thick-as-shit end of the spectrum.

Yes, "let's not lose viewership by going over people's heads or expecting too much of them. Let's find the stupidest inbred morons on the planet to be our focus group."

Grrrrr arrrrgh.
