wasnt there some research that showed that teenage pregnancies were higher among those groups who practised abstention? if the kids are going to do it anyway, at least let them be protected - if they dont need it, then thats cool - but at lerast give them the chance.
I don't know about teen pregnancies, but I've seen research that teens who pledge "abstinence" define it strictly as intercourse and are more likley to engage in other sexual behaviors, like oral and anal sex.
I'm not a parent, but I think that if I were I'd want my kid to be informed and protected instead of ignorant and coddled.
