Ack. Had a weekend that left me badly in need of another RIGHT NOW. Friday was a 12 hour day; got some spiffy new highlights in the hair and had a fun chat with my stylist. She turns stereotypes on their ear, being one of the few lesbian hairstylists I've ever met. She is fab; she does great hair and is also a blast to talk to. I listened to the latest installment of the Melodrama that is Her Love Life and made appropriate groany noises. We swapped gaybashing stories; fun, that.

Saturday was a slug day, and that evening I went out with the boys. There was beer, a wee bit of karaoke, some foosball, and lots of talk about women's asses. Good night. As I promised the missus, I had no whiskey (only beer) and was home at a reasonable hour.

Sunday we had the practice session for [livejournal.com profile] wafflelips' interview. I had no idea what was happening; it may as well have been conducted in Latin. I think I faked it all right, though. It seemed to be productive.

Rehearsal on Sunday was a bust. I usually count on choir practice to energize me for the coming week; lately it's been nothing but an energy drain. I was already dog tired, and by the end I was completely zonked. Had to get out and go home to my girl. She and I curled up on the couch and were vegetables for the night. Necessary.

Today I want nothing more than to be sitting in living room, wearing sweats, eating junk food, and playing Knights of the Old Republic all day. Dude, I swear that one Jedi is hitting on me. She totally wants me. Oh yeah.

Hee! I totally love becoming involved in video games. I dreamt about characters from Final Fantasy 9.

Monkey Ball, which I love, is harder to be attached to. Husband is playing Xenosaga, which he is totally addicted to and highly recommends!

I'll have to look into those. We picked up KOTOR on the recommendation of half our collective flist. We haven't been disappointed, although I am disappointed in [livejournal.com profile] gonzo21's observation that you cannot romance the cute Jedi if your character is female. 'Cause, she so totally wants me! It's not fair!

:)

I must admit, it is highly bonkers that you can't romance the cute jedi if you're playing as a female PC. The company that made KOTOR have a reputation for being slash-friendly, they even went so far as to re-write some of the romance dialogue in BG2 ToB so that it read gender-neutral, so that it could be equally applicable to a male or female PC.

I guess it must be because it was a console game, instead of a PC game, and those have a slightly different audience to consider. Or something.

I've had a little look into it, and there doesn't seem to be any way of spoofing the programming. If there was only some way of starting the game with a male character, then switching to a female, that would probably do it. But, alas.

You can romance useless pilot bloke. But, that has all the attraction of seducing a Hutt.

Gotta say though, it was Mission that I really fell in love with.

It's a fairly epic love story too, with the cute jedi chick. All hail the story-telling prowess of Kotor. And I hope Lucas was forced to sit and play it, so that he could see what telling a real story in the Star Wars universe looks like.

Ah well. I had such hope, particularly after a bit of dialog with Juhani (the other Jedi chick) in which one of my response choices was "Are you hitting on me?" I expect I will romance useless pilot dude, just for the full story aspect. Then I will play a male character and get the Bastila romance.

Le sigh. Starcrossed, that's what we are.

Certainly gives the game more replay value.

Though I must admit, even though it is one of my all-time favourite games, there are one or two niggly little problems I have with it.

Noteably that by the time I got to the end, I had levelled out at the experiance point cap, and found all of the fights to be a little too easy.

And some of the mini-games were mercilessly hard. The pod racing. Sheesh.

Yeah, the fights are getting easier. Once you learn a trick or two about equipping the characters, and can make sure their health stays good the fights are much easier.

I do like the mind games, though. Fun! I suck at swoop racing, though. On Tatooine I tried multiples times and never made it past the first race. Ugh.

I managed to complete the first 2 (of 3) swoop races at Tatooine, and, the ocean planet. Got to be, I think, quite good at it, but the margins of error are measured in tenths and hundredths of a second, and I think it's just impossible to complete.

Which is irritating. Okay, the quests are really minor ones, but I'd still like to complete them to see what happens.

How are you at Pazaak?

I'm much better at Pazaak than I am at the racing. I bought a couple of +/- cards from various folks to enhance my deck. I like that I can play with Mission on the ship.

Mhmm.

::blinks::

Sorry. What was that? I think I sort of faded out there for a moment.

(Curse you game for not letting your character persue a romance with Mission!)

I know, our characters should have all options open. What if I want to hook up with Canderous? Or Juhani? Or Jolee? Like they're not interesting in their own right. Hah.

I wonder if the sequal is going to have the same characters?

I'd guess probably not, because they'd start out at stupidly high levels.

Apparently there has been some downloadable content for the game released on XBOx live, a new spacestation, and some new equipment.

I suppose you could start a new game with everyone back at zero. But that would be slightly dumb, unless you could bring in your KOTOR characters as is. I wish there were a way for everyone to hang out together. *sigh*

I will have to investigate!

yes yes yes and i've never played Knights of the Old Republic, but i could and it could make my day entirely happier than it is currently. stupid mondays.

i was cranky and snarky...and i think chris wanted to throw something at me. or at least get me out of the room. maybe it will be better when we're all together and not crammed in a teeny tiny little room in someone's house. *shrug*

let's go home now k? bleh.

Knights of the Old Republic is super fun, and would definitely make your day happier. Sorry your Monday is such a Monday.

re: choir
It has to be better when we're not piled on top of each other. Please, let it be better.

Okay, you and I get the rest of the day off. Change into sweats and bring some chocolate over to my house; we'll play xbox.

yes that was my guess. and my monday could be more of a monday...it's not horrible. i just don't really want to be here. i'm tired. i still need to eat lunch. i want to know what's happening with the re-org and if my boss may just be moving to mira mesa instead of escondido. but it's still a monday.

wooohooo. good plan good plan. i have chocolate and other assorted junk food. and while my hands are a bit tired from typing today, i think they'll be ok to play Xbox. :)

Sounds like you have a great hairdresser. Definitely better than the one that [livejournal.com profile] gossip_ho went to yesterday. It's so much fun to pay $30 to have your hair done by a junior hairstylist who doesn't do anything you ask for. "I want my hair cut to my ear lobes--straight across. Straight at the back." This is what she heard: "Hey, do whatever you want. Just trim it because I really don't want it as short as I think I do. Just make it look like you barely touched my hair. Then go on and have some fun with the back of my head! See if you can do something funky with layering just the back. Then make sure to make my hair uneven because that would be unique. Have fun!"

Poor Angele. The hairdresser next to her had to try and fix the mistakes afterwards. This was a nice hair salon. Who knew you'd get such crap from there! Next time she'll probably go to the cheap one we've used the last few times. At least they do plain and simple haircuts--as short as you want 'em.

Oh yeah, it also took her an hour to do the haircut. I wasn't happy waiting that long for something that should be fairly quick. I kept making faces at Angele in the mirror. :)

As for your fun with the guys--I'm kind of jealous. I used to hang out with straight guys. Well, mainly [livejournal.com profile] ah_mee's fiancee. I kind of miss talking about hot girls with straight guys. I don't know why. It's just cool. Heh.

My hairdresser is way better than that. Why don't you two just schlepp down here every 8 weeks or so to have your hair done?

I kind of miss talking about hot girls with straight guys. I don't know why. It's just cool.

It is cool. When I was first coming out, I learned many important Things About Women from a straight guy. It's different from talking with other lesbians/bi women; not better or worse just different and cool.

Oh sure, that's a great plan! We'll have the most expensive hair dos on our block. "My hairdresser's in California. I only let her touch my hair. You know how it is...dahling."

As for the str8 guy talk, it is different. Not better. Not worse. Just cool in its own way.

Unless your str8 guy friends start sending you any email involving nekkid women. Then it's a little weird. Been there.

Hey, I could use one of those extra weekends, too. Let's arrange that soon, 'kay?

Damn!!! I missed talk of women's asses! Of course, there's plenty of that talk (and other talk) going on in my head 24/7. I'm worse than a teenage boy.

I want to play more Morrowind this evening. Now that I have assasins after me all it's more fun. It's so much more interesting that getting bludgeoned over and over by that stupid Orc. That hammer hurts my poor elf w/ the shiny clothes.

Yes. We were comparing/contrasting women who got booty versus women who don't. We concluded that there's nothing wrong with a woman who doesn't have booty if she knows how to move what she's got. There was also a spirited discussion on the merits of bubble butts.

Your input was sorely missed.

That's an interesting topic. Wish I could've been there to help shed some light on the issue. I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] wafflelips would have lots to say too. With a name like "wafflelips"....well, you know... Smuttiness seems to be her speciality. ;)

My sister was visiting last week and said that she noticed that she lost a bit of weight in her ass. I thought it would be appropriate to say, "That's nice. Have you been working out more or something?" This was the incorrect response. Apparently losing weight everywhere but her ass is acceptable. My sister likes having the big booty ass. Who knew?

Maybe she is a fan of Sir Mix-a-lot? Or Spinal Tap?

Both have, after all, written seminal works on the merits of the big booty ass.

Yeah, another weekend sounds really good. I cleaned the kitchen on Saturday between women's basketball games (wiping the drool...) and visited Alissa. Sunday I worked until 2, then went to the Talisman concert - it was awesome! I love the feeling of being inspired by good music sung well. I blew off chorus rehearsal - partly because of the thought of a soprano only rehearsal in someone's living room, partly because I wanted to see Alissa, check up on her. I could use a few days of sleep, and somehow, I need to finish cleaning my house because my parents arrive sometime in the next week. So yeah, let's all go home.
