I'm not getting most of my email notifications. Weird. I'll try to respond as best I can. There's comic talk over in [livejournal.com profile] nightxade's journal! Whee!

I had a maple dip this morning. Slimey D brought it over to me. I'm sure he wants something, but for now I shall ignore it and enjoy. Ah!

mmm maple dip...good choice to ignore and not think about what it is that Slimey D wanted in return and just enjoy the goodness of the maple. (now if it was a toasted coconut it would be even better. yummmm).

Ah, here we differ in opinion. To me, maple dip is the very pinnacle of doughnut perfection. You can do no better than maple dip; you can only strive to achieve its deeply sweet goodness. ;)

How's your day, pal?

Ah, here we differ in opinion.

this is true. we're different people with differnt favorite donuts. and yet we've found a way to be friends. yay us. overcoming diversity in the face of all odds. it's a touching story really.

is today going better than yesterday with the morning maple dip? sure hope so.

not too bad...busy, but i'm off to the dentist in just a few...which basically screws the rest of my afternoon (although i am going to try to come back to the office. ick). mostly i'm just rolling along, trying to get stuff done. i'm sure my day could have been better with a tasty donut however. :)

I heard from a representative of ABC. They want to make an afterschool special about us. Mixed Dozen: There's Room in the Box for All our Favorites. It sounds so moving! *sniffle*

Yep. I had a chat with Frenchie (the new supervisor) and she Had A Talk with the big boss. It seems to be resolved.

(An aside: You know, I don't understand the notion some Americans have about French people being wimps. The ones I know are pretty friggin' tough, enough that I often I refer to "opening up a can of whoop ass" as "getting all French on somebody.")

Hopefully there will be no surprises at the dentist.

French people are tough. And they like Pepsi better than Coke. Watch out!

Maple dips are the best donut. I'd love to see that after-school special because I don't know how you could possibly be friends with anybody who disagrees. I mean, what if you go to the donut shop together and you can't agree on a box of donuts? How do you figure that out? I'm just glad that my friends let me pick their donuts for them. I always say, "If you don't like maple dip then you are a bad, mean, psychotic, kitten-hating, fish-microwaving, spandex-wearing, evil person." But I could be wrong. Perhaps the special will give me a different perspective on things.

just so it's on the record: i do like maple donuts an awful lot. but my absolute favorite is toasted cocount (which, really, very few places have, so i usually have a maple dip anyway). so i only kind of disagree. i'm really and truly NOT a bad, mean, psychotic, kitten-hating, fish-microwaving, spandex-wearing, evil person. i promise. *grin*

yes, but have you ever really seen her eat a maple donut? do we have any real proof that maples are almost her favorite?

i don't think we have to honor love-of-donuts-other-than-maple-diversity. i think that's taking tolerance a little too far.

and pepsi sucks.

i promise that if you hand me a maple donut i will eat it. have you ever thought about the fact that you haven't seen me eat a maple donut because you've never given me one? you also haven't seen me eat a toasted coconut donut, but you probably still believe that it's my favorite. now that we're on the subject, i haven't seen anyone here eat a maple donut. so you may all be lying. lying liars even.

pepsi does suck. coke is a trillion billion gazillion times better.

I never ever lie about maple.

Pepsi sucks.

you're making that up. everytime we hang out, i eat at least *one* maple donut. Hell, we had maple donuts at the cookie party on Saturday. And you refused them. Everyone saw you refuse. The lies have to stop now!

(I'm feeling really silly right now...)

Um, hello? Jelly donuts? Old-fashioneds? All donuts are beautiful in my sight.

It's just that maple is maple.

Actually, the best donuts are cake of any kind. Forget the other kind. They aren't as good.

Powdered cake. Maple covered cake. Chocolate cake. Chocolate covered cake. Cinnamon covered cake. Glazed cake. Yummmmmmmmm.

I think the special will open your eyes and heart to the beauty that are non-maple dip donuts. I'll send you a prerelease copy. Study it. There will be a quiz.

From: [identity profile] virginmartyr1.livejournal.com
there is also a sensitivity and diversity training designed around the program. please consider attending. it will further open your hearts and minds, and continue the process of acceptance and tolerance of those that enjoy other kinds of donuts. it's not to be missed.

We're all about opening hearts and minds to the beauty of the entire donut spectrum.

From: [identity profile] virginmartyr1.livejournal.com
i believe that donut love falls on a continuum, or spectrum if you will. very few people are at one end or the other of the spectrum, loving only ONE kind of donut. while there are varying degrees of which donut a person chooses to favor, love, or is most drawn to, i believe that people fall somewhere along this spectrum, sometimes choosing maple dips, sometimes glazed, sometimes old fashioned or cake. this is natural behavior and should not be regarded as "abnormal" or as an illness that can be cured. we should practice acceptance and tolerance toward people regardless of where they fall along the donut continuum.

We should organize a Donut Pride Festival. We could have it in the park. Dunkin Donuts and Tim Hortons could be our corporate sponsors. There would be Donut Drag (where one kind of donut dresses up as another, sprinkles being the favorite way to dress up). It'd be fun and uplifting!

WHEEEE!!!! donuts and the people who love them would flock from far and wide to attend. it's be a smashing success. entertaining and an important step in breaking down our donut-ist society and working toward a world free of donut discrimination.

i am ashamed, but i have never had tim hortons. i don't even think i've ever seen or been in the presence of a tim hortons. is this a midwestern or canadian thing? i would like to try tim hortons since it seems to be a very tasty donut establishment. please advise.

many thanks,
your friendly donut pride festival co-organizer

Tim Hortons is indeed a Canadian chain named after...wait for it...a HOCKEY PLAYER! Yes, Tim Horton was on the Toronto Maple Leafs before playing for Buffalo. He was killed in a car accident on the highway in my hometown but his donut chains live on. (see my image)

I would be at Donut Pride in a heartbeat. Would sell my belongings just to get there. To sample the donuts of the world.

I will have a hard time with this tolerance thing. Why can't people just eat maple dips and make it easier for me to like them?

I will sometimes eat a sprinkle donut. Just sometimes. I rinse my mouth out with soap afterwards.

I think all this non-maple-phobia springs from your own natural desires for other types of donut. Instead of feeling ashamed, you should embrace and celebrate your openness to other donut types.

We need a banner. And a slogan. And a catchy set of intials to string together. And t shirts. And buttons! Oh goodness, there's so much to do. I wonder if Cyndi Lauper is busy that day?

i don't even think i've ever seen or been in the presence of a tim hortons

We shall rectify this during GALA. A pilgrimage to Tim Horton's is certainly in order.

Jean Reno is french. Look at La Femme Nikita. Look at The Professional. Obviously the French must kick much ass, if Jean Reno is any indication.

you'll laugh you'll cry. it sounds like a perfect after-school-special about diversity, friendship and acceptance. let's all hug now.

Yep. I had a chat with Frenchie (the new supervisor) and she Had A Talk with the big boss. It seems to be resolved.

yay. that is very good news. resolution is good and happy and nice. yay for Frenchie taking positive action. really glad to hear things are starting to work out and whatnot.

(An aside: You know, I don't understand the notion some Americans have about French people being wimps. The ones I know are pretty friggin' tough, enough that I often I refer to "opening up a can of whoop ass" as "getting all French on somebody.")

LOL. i've never had any notion about French people being wimps. do people really think that? what freaky propaganda has led them to that belief? it's the berets and accents and love of fine things that must throw people off. i haven't known many French people, but the ones (ok one) i knew was no door mat.

Hopefully there will be no surprises at the dentist.

arg. see comment in my journal re: this. yes surprises. yes they found another cavity. yes it will be way more money than i want to pay. sigh. it sucks. i'm bitter, my face is numb and i'm back at work. and now from that i'm slightly cranky. however, i'm still smiling on the inside.
